First Day of Classes: January 22, 2024

The Spring 2024 semester kicks off on January 22, with classes beginning at 9:30 AM. Make sure to check your class schedule on SOLAR to ensure you know where to be and when.

Spring Break: March 9-17, 2024

Take a break from classes and enjoy some time off during Spring Break. Whether you’re staying on Long Island or traveling to a new destination, use this time to relax and recharge.

Last Day of Classes: May 1, 2024

Classes end on May 1, giving you plenty of time to prepare for final exams and projects.

Commencement: May 24-26, 2024

Celebrate your achievements with family and friends during the Stony Brook University Commencement ceremonies. The Graduate School Ceremony will take place on May 25, 2024 at 1:00 PM.

Events and Festivals

Earthstock

Earthstock is a week-long celebration of sustainability and environmentalism. From April 18-22, 2024, students can attend workshops, film screenings, and other events focused on topics like climate change, renewable energy, and conservation. Plus, don’t miss the Earthstock Festival on April 20, featuring live music, food, and eco-friendly vendors.

When do I need to register for classes?

Registration for Spring 2024 classes begins on November 6, 2023. Make sure to check your registration appointment time on SOLAR.

What is the drop/add deadline for Spring 2024?

The drop/add deadline for Spring 2024 is February 3, 2024. After this date, you will no longer be able to add or drop classes without academic penalty.

When is Spring Break?

Spring Break runs from March 9-17, 2024. Classes will resume on March 18.

When is graduation?

Graduation ceremonies will take place from May 24-26, 2024. The Graduate School Ceremony will be held on May 25 at 1:00 PM.
